Celebrity Culture

The greatest one among you will live as one called to serve others without honor. Luke 22:26

I hate celebrity culture. With a passion. Because it’s just another unnecessary layer of classism …that’s designed to divide, create power structures, and take advantage of people.

When the desire to be well known and catered to trump the heart to serve and please God, something is wrong. The name dropping, ambition to be in certain rooms, and rub elbows with influential people in order to gain favor, preferential treatment, and be perceived as more important …is idolatry. And I’m not talking Hollywood …I’m talking locally and regionally. It’s a heart issue.

The lengths that people are going to in order to achieve this is concerning. Using people, treating people like dirty rags, turning their nose up to “lower level” tasks, lying/pretending on social media …what are we doing?

We are not superstars. I don’t care who thinks highly of us. Honor begins with us!! ….posturing those around use to a high esteem! …not the other way around.

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. Romans 12:3
