My heart grieves for a culture that avoids, resents, and scoffs at processes that are necessary to build endurance.
Unpopular Truth: Hard seasons will break us. But that’s also the point …to break us of the pride of life, self-reliance, and the favorable view that we have ourselves …because it’s destroying us. Unfortunately, culture encourages all things that promote, hold on to, and glorify self. To the point where anything that requires discipline, self-control, ego/pride check, accountability, change, and complete dependence on God is perceived as negative.
Yet God knows what’s best for us. Stop bailing out and complaining. Instead embrace the hard seasons and lean into Jesus. God never promised us a life without challenges. In fact, He told us problems are a part of the human experience. Even so, He encouraged us to be of good cheer, because He’s already overcome the world. So, it is possible to have joy and peace in the midst of trials.
Enemies of enduring hard seasons:
Pride.
Unwillingness to change.
Refusal to ask for help.
Sin.
Dishonoring or disobeying God.
Entitlement.
Ungrateful heart.
No submission to authority.
Remain faithful to God’s processes and watch how they produce great fruit.
